Badger Blockchain at University of Wisconsin Madison is hosting a one-day hackathon open to everyone from experienced coders to total newbies. MouseBelt has joined on as the title sponsor for the event and we are very excited to help them throw the first Madison Blockchain Hackathon. The event will be held on September 22 at 100state, the largest co-working community in Madison, Wisconsin. 100state work in partnership with Badger Blockchain to provide the club with a dedicated space to work on blockchain projects and are also sponsoring the event.
Madison is quickly becoming a hub for talented engineers, developers, and entrepreneurs in the blockchain space. The hackathon will bring together a focused pool of innovative teams excited to demonstrate how blockchain technology can be used to tackle problems and develop new solutions. The focus of this hackathon is blockchain interoperability and new ways to imporve crypto asset compatibility. Come with an idea, form a team or join a team on-site, and spend the day building a great project with enthusiastic, talented, and fun people! Tickets are $35 and include the cost of food and drink at the event. Students are eligible for a full reimbursement of ticket costs so long as they bring their student ID. Prizes will be based on: originality, functionality, appropriate use of blockchain, and design.
There will also be classrooms for workshops that hackers can attend to take a break from hacking and develop skills needed to succeed in the competition. As title sponsors, MouseBelt will be able to present our open source tools in a workshop setting, as well as set bounties for projects built on those tools. Our open-source initiative is part of our larger project of facilitating growth in the blockchain space by giving resources to the people who need them most: early stage companies, developers, and students. That is why we started our MouseBelt University Blockchain Program. Badger Blockchain is just one of 12 top blockchain student organizations we are sponsoring in Fall 2018.
