The UW Blockchain Society is connecting industries and students interested in blockchain technology at their first ever expo this fall. The University of Washington Blockchain Exposition will be held on October 13th, 2018 in Kane Hall and will feature speakers, workshops, and panels from companies and individuals involved in the blockchain space. MouseBelt will be in attendance as one of the sponsors of the event--which includes the opportunity for us to network with students at our booth and host our own workshop! Come meet us and get a tutorial on our large suite of open source blockchain development tools.
Since most blockchain conferences cost over $500, the society wanted to provide an accessible option since there is extremely high interest in blockchain and cryptocurrencies among students at UW campuses. Ticket prices start as low as $5. They also want to address the lack of blockchain education by providing an education based expo featuring a variety of topics such as social media, a debate on bitcoin, use cases, diversity in blockchain, and crypto taxes. It will also be live-streamed to universities around the world including Harvard, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, University of British Columbia, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, etc.
Here is a tentative schedule for the event
Some examples of speakers include:
Mark Cooley, a seasoned executive, consultant, and educator who specializes in business strategy and the application of blockchain technologies. He is on the founding team of numerous blockchain companies including lifeID, Govurn, and 4Block Solutions.
Ahmad Alkabra, the Chief Technology Officer at Appsolutely, a company that is disrupting and reimagining the customer loyalty space and ecosystem with LoyalCoin – the next-generation customer loyalty solution on the blockchain.
UW Blockchain society is one of MouseBelt's Fall 2018 MouseBelt Blockchain University participants. We have selected 12 of the top blockchain student organizations in the country for sponsorship. In addition to monetary support, we are also providing a platform for cross-campus collaboration, mentorship, and advising from our developers and executives.
